I love, love, love this game. The game was a challenging, yet not too hard. The graphics were up to par, and the sounds were good too, this is actually 1 of 4 games where I didn't mute my computer. I loved that we not only had the HOs, but also the side game of collecting cards in order to complete the game. It also made me think a little more and took me longer than a few hours to complete the game. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone looking for one to play. Looking forward to the sequel. I wonder how that one will hold up.
First of all each scene gets played a lot which means you can remember where to go and for what - this is an enormous bonus for me as I can get lost and wander about for ages trying to backtrack or find where a particular thing is! The graphics are good - the story is sound - the added feature of collecting cards adds to your overall interest in the game and the hidden object scenes are EASY so you can get on with the gameplay - personally I enjoy the interaction far more than hidden object scenes. Just one downer for me at the end of the game - you cannot play the bonus or get to the "extras" until you complete the game which includes finding all 52 cards - I ended up with one missing - read through the strategy guide and still could not access it - it could be because the window on the scene closed with the card in it. But hey ho - will replay some time in the future with particular care regarding finding the cards and the quality of this game makes this a future joy to be had.
I absolutely LOVE this game, it was so much fun to play and the graphics are outstanding. I really got engrossed into the story which pushed me to solve even the most difficult puzzles.
Review based on Standard finished game play. Wish I had purchased CE as I liked the game that much and may still purchase. The Countess IS the Queen of Spades and you, the Detective are exploring actually 2 mansions to gather evidence regarding reports of Missing Persons as well as a missing colleague. There is a deck of "enchanted" cards you must collect along with other objects within the game. In fact, the reason for some people disappearing is that they, too, ventured into the Mansion in an attempt to collect the enchanted card and never returned! It has been reported than even just one of these enchanted cards will enhance any hand you are playing. This could really come in handy if you're a gambler. Off to Vegas!! Part of the fun and challenge for me was moving from room to room to explore and make certain you've gathered all 51 of 52 cards until your final scene where you collect the very last card of the deck. Don't watch the game video which spoils the ending somewhat. I did not and received quite a jolt along with other jolts in the game, hence, the gruesome parts!! It is all in good fun, however, as I am a Haunted Legends fan and wish to play more of their games. Some scenes are dark and foreboding and cluttered. That is the nature of the game and it's all fun and do-able. I enjoyed playing (at night) on an old IBM Think Pad Laptop. Do-dah-do! Do-dah-do! Enjoy! - Mama Mia -
I really enjoyed playing this game. It wasn't frustratingly difficult and the puzzles were pretty easy for the average person. It was relaxing and engaging, which is what I search for in a HO game. What I loved most was all the hidden object areas. Negatives: I didn't like the journal. It very rarely helped in my investigation. The music was also monotonous and I had to mute it several times. But the game was fun. Like a good HO game, you have to search various areas to obtain your inventory to get from one level to the next. It was worth buying the collector's edition because the extra game play incorporated areas that made you wonder why they weren't activated in the original game play. Loved it!
I love the game alot and have already played it from start to finish several times. The scenes are really neat and there are lots of rooms and different areas to travel back and forth too. I liked the bonus game a lot as well. My only complaint is that you only get to play the bonus game the one time. At least, I have not been able to figure out how to access it again. Overall, though, LOTS of fun.
I love this game and have replayed it several times. The storyline grabbed me from the opening scene. As the detective you will explore several rooms in the old mansion and also surrounding areas plus the town. There is a lot of back-and-forth movement. The Hidden Object scenes were clear and easy to see, and several had interactive items in them. In this game you will collect cards, and that was also fun trying to find all of them. This game has my favorite musical sound track, the music always makes me want to twirl around the room (did I say that I LOVE the music in this game)! The bonus chapter was interesting, but it did not change (add to or detract from) the ending in the main game. MINUS SIDE: Wish the bonus chapter had been a little longer
I loved this game! I thought it was fun and had an interesting plot. There were fun puzzles to solve, some challenging and one or two that I had a hard time with. All numbers tallied, it is a great game and I recommend it!
One of my christmas presents from my husband and I could not stop playing it. Very good hidden object scenes, loved the music and the story held your interest right until the end. Loads of rooms to explore. i would certainly replay this game over and over and fully recommend it.
AS I am new to HOG/Adv games this was the perfect game not to easy and not to diffucult the HOS were perfect not junk piles well light and the puzzles were easy enough for a amutmer like me to were you would not get frusterated to quit i hope that there will be more games like this one once I get better at it maybe go for the more diffuclt games
